The Cuatro Montes Diet (The Four Peak Diet)

The inagural Cuatro Montes Diet was held on February 2-3, 2008. It was indeed a very cool diet consisting of some of the most amazing biking and hiking in and around the Shendoah National Park. There was both a long course and a short course. The long course was about 90 miles (25 miles of hiking/trekking and 65 miles of biking). The short course was about 50 miles (10 miles of hiking/trekking and 40 miles of biking). Both courses were awesome and hard!

Old Stuff:

We anticipate the long course taking about 24 hours to complete and 12 hours for the short course.

When: There will be a race brief at 8:45am and the diet will start at 9am. Please get their early to get your stuff ready and let us know you are there.

Where: Old Rag lower parking area. Need directions?

Things to remember: This is a Diet. No race director, no race fee, no support. You will be responsible for your own safety, and getting yourself out. Plan accordingly.

Mandatory map: Each team is required have a PATC #10 map. You can find this map at REI, HTO, Casual Adventure, or other outdoors stores. If you live somewhere far away and really, really can't get a map, let us know and we'll run and get you one for you. We will NOT have extra maps at the race.

Mandatory gear: Since this is a diet, we will not be checking for gear. If you don't know what you should bring then perhaps you should sleep in instead - just kidding. If you have any questions, please contact us. We'll be happy to help you out anyway you can. I would plan on being self-sufficient for 12+ hours at a time.

Team size: I wouldn't want to do this diet solo. Bring a friend along for some torture...I mean fun.
